Scholarships:
**AAA Michigans Scholarship Program- Need proof of being on the AAA Michigan safety patrol, good academic standing, community service and extra curricular involvement. Apps need to be picked up and returned to the guidance office, only one entry will be sent to the competition. Deadline April 1, 2009.
AXA Achievement Scholarship- must demonstrate ambition and drive, determination to set and reach goals, respect for self, family, and community, ability to succeed in college. Go to www.axa-achievement.com for more info. Deadline Dec. 15, 2008.

** McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship award- Available to all seniors who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating their own business while in high school. Deadline January 25,2009
**MEA Scholarship- must be attending a Michigan public institution (with a few private exceptions-see app) and you will be judged on academic achievement, school/community service, and extracurricular activities. Apps in guidance office, deadline February 18, 2009.
** NALS of Michigan Scholarship- awarded based on scholastic achievements, future career goals in the legal field, financial need, and leadership ability. Deadline January 15, 2009.
Profile in Courage Essay Contest- for students grades 9-12 to write an original and creative essay that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by J.F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. For guidelines go to www.jfklibrary.org. Deadline January 10, 2009.
Prudential Spirit of Community Awards- for grades 5-12. Honors students for their outstanding community service and volunteering over the past twelve months. Go to the following websites to apply:

** *Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts Scholarship- school offers innovative hands-on learning programs for radio, television/video, and graphic design. Must take exam, CPAT, at Specs School on Dec. 6 to be eligible, top 10 will be finalists. RSVP by Dec. 5. Get more details at
