Big Rapids Rocket/Flag Football and Cheerleading 5th Annual Picnic will be Saturday, June 19 from 12pm – 4pm at Cran Hill Ranch. You will need to bring a dish to pass and there will be a dunk tank and bounce house. (Please contact Rhonda Severson at rhondaannseverson@yahoo.com or call 231-629-6384 for more info.)
The 5th Annual “Catch-A-Fish, Grant – A – Wish!” fishing tournament will be Saturday, June 12 from 9am – 12pm at the Big Rapids Riverwalk at Hemlock Park. Registration forms are in the office. The first 50 registered participants will receive a FREE tournament t-shirt and fishing bait.
Please check out the Lost and Found before you leave for the summer…….there are lots of really nice things hanging there!
Attention Band Students: If you ordered a CD of the Spring Concert you can pick it up in the band room!
The 20 some extra we had purchased of the yearbooks have been sold out. If you would like to purchase one, go to www.geskusphoto.com and click on yearbooks. You can order one from there.
Family Video will be giving all Kindergarten through college age students one FREE rental for each final course grade of an “A”. Students, bring your final report card into your favorite Family Video location. FREE rentals include ALL new releases over 30 days with a split sticker and ALL video games through the month of June (1 night rental). Congratulations!
There will be a Book Fair at the Big Rapids Library on July 14th and 15th, and the Summer Reading Program for 2010 is now online @ www.bigrapids.llb.mi.us .
Big Rapids Young Champions Self Defense registration and first class will be June 14 @ 6pm at the Big Rapids Middle school for boys and girls ages 4 – 15. Each class is $7 per week and a non refundable registration fee of $7. (Contact Young Champions @ 1-800-940-7469 www.youngchampions.us )
There is a green flyer in the office with fun classes you can take at ARTWORKS this summer and fall! They include Creative Writing, Beginning Guitar, Ballet, Jazz, and Tap, HipHopDance for Teen/Adults, and Jazz/Contemporary Dance for Teens/Adults. Our last Domino’s Dough Raising night will be TODAY, June 9! Any pizza sold on that date will earn $1 for BRMS!
The Charles E. Fairman Community Pool will open June 7 and close August 13th. Come to the office for a schedule of events!
The Big Rapids Recreation Department would like to invite your kids to a supervised program to provide additional fun activities during the summer break. The program will consist of adult supervised games, arts-n-crafts, sports, water games and special events. The City Rec Summer Happening begin June 15th and run through August 5th on Tuesday and Thursdays from 1:00 – 3:00pm. (For more info call 592-4038.)

Mecosta County 4-H Summer Adventure Camp at School Section Lake will be August 6 – 8 for kids ages 7 – 12. Campers do not have to be 4-H members. Flyers are in the office.
Stepping Stones learning Center Summer Explorer Program offers everything form A-Z for children 5 – 12 years of age. Tuition includes a healthy breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and all field trip expenses. There are flyers in the office. Or call 527-2273 to sign up or pick up an enrollment packet at 525 N Fourth Ave in Big Rapids Space is limited to 30 students so don’t delay!

Sports:
Falcon Head Golf Club presents Junior Summer Golf Clinics beginning June 14th for 3 weeks. It will last 3 weeks (Mondays and Wednesdays) and there will be a putting and chipping contest on the last day! Cost is $50 per student. Please call 796-2613 for more information!
Big Rapids High School will be hosting a Cardinal Summer Soccer Camp July 13-16 from 9am to 12:390pm for all boys and girls currently in grades 1-8. The cost is $50 per camper if registered/post marked by June 25. There are registration forms in the office! (Questions, call Coach Fox @ 796-7651.)
The Big Rapids Football 2010 Summer Dates are in the office if you are interested.
Sports Physical Clinics will be Wednesday, August 4 from 4 – 7pm. Suggested time to attend based on first letter of last name to avoid long lines: 4pm A-J 5pm K-R 6pm S-Z. They will be on the 2nd floor of Mecosta Health services. Cost is $10 per physical – make checks payable to BRHS Athletics. Physical will be good for the 2010 -2011 school year.
There are Wrestling Summer Schedules in the office if you are interested! There will be a Summer Wrestling Club at the Big Rapid High School Sundays form 4:30 – 6pm starting June 13th and Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8pm starting June 15. The cost is $5 per session or $30 for the whole summer. Instructors are Garrett Schaner and Kyle Windquist.

There Volleyball Camp Flyers in the office from FSU. All camps start in July and registration deadline is June 15th. (Online registration @ www.ferris.edu/sports/camps )
There are Sports Skills and Fitness School flyers in the office from FSU. You can register online at www.ferris.edu/summercamps . This is an opportunity for children ages 6 – 14 to develop various sports skills and a healthy cardiovascular fitness level.
