ATTENTION STUDENTS & STAFF During parent/teacher conferences on Monday, November 24, the 8th grade band is giving you the opportunity to win a brand new Char- Broil Gas Grill. Band students and parents will be on hand to help you purchase tickets -$1 each or 6 for $5. All proceeds from both of these fundraisers go toward the 8th grade band Chicago Trip. Thanks!
No will be no Origami Paper Folding Club next Monday because of conferences.
SHOCK has been rescheduled for Tuesday, November 25.
Mobile Dentist will be at Big Rapids Middle School on Wednesday, January 7th, 2009. Dental professionals will be providing exams, cleanings, x-rays, and sealants, as appropriate, for each student registered. The forms will be given out November 19th, and must be returned by Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008. Please call us with any questions (796-9965).
There is an “Origami/Paper Folding Club” sign up in the office. If you’re interested, it will be held on Monday’s from 3:30 – 4:45pm in Room 15. There will be an airplane flying contest!
After School DHS is cancelled on Monday, Nov 24 due to conferences.
Sports:
In 8th grade Boy’s Basketball action Wednesday evening, the Cardinals improved to 2 -2 with a 38-25 win over White Cloud. The Cards came out a bit sluggish in the first half leading at the 2nd quarter 14 – 8. However, they came out like gangbusters in the second half and closed the door for a win. Leading the way for BR was Jake Daugherty with 14 points, Andrew Klarecki with 7 points, Mack Green and Forrest Smith with 4 points apiece. Ty Shafer and Sonny Metoki each added 2 points. Strong defensive play continues to be what is setting Big Rapids apart from their opponents. The boys improved on their free throw shooting going 11 for 19 from the line and had marked improvement on their turnovers. The boys will be in action Monday when they travel to Hesperia.
In 7th grade action Wednesday night, the Cardinals rolled to an easy victory over White Cloud, 35-10. Leading scorers for Big Rapids were: Quinn Tyson with 12 points, which included all 4 free-throws, Ty Lattimore with 6 points, Matt Brejcha with 5 points, Ryan Joseph and Kyle Brady with 4 points each, and Eric Fountain & Andy Fortier with a basket apiece. Awesome performance guys, great team effort! Next game is Monday away at Hesperia! GO CARDS!
Don’t forget……….Boy’s Basketball pictures are TODAY, Friday, November 21 right after school in the gym. Don’t forget your picture envelope with money and your uniforms! If you need an extra envelope, stop in the office and get one.
Big Rapids MYWAY Youth Wrestling will have its informational and sign up meeting tonight, Friday, November 21st @ 6:30pm at the Big Rapids High School in room 115. It is open to boys and girls K-8th grade. The cost is $35 which includes facility usage, coaching, insurance card, and sweatshirt( you will not be turned away if you cannot afford the fee).
