Please join us in welcoming Lizzie Broekema to Brookside Elementary, where she is beginning her teaching career as a 4th-grade teacher! Lizzie is originally from Grand Rapids and continues to call the area home. She attended Western Michigan University—Go Broncos!—and is excited to bring her passion for working with children into the classroom.
Before becoming a teacher, Lizzie gained valuable experience working at a daycare and as a nanny. Those experiences helped prepare her for her new role and strengthened her love of working with children. When asked why she wanted to become a teacher, Lizzie shared a simple but meaningful answer: “I wanted to become a teacher that I needed when I was a student.” Her desire to make a difference in the lives of her students is sure to make her a wonderful addition to the Brookside family.
Outside of school, Lizzie enjoys crafting, watching movies, spending time with her family, and—perhaps most importantly—building Legos! She lives with her parents and is very close with her two older sisters. She is also excited to become an aunt soon.
