Welcome, Ms. Langley

Big Rapids High School is excited to welcome Michaela Langley to our teaching staff this fall as our new ELA and History teacher.

Michaela’s background is as unique as her passion for education. She grew up internationally, though she spent much of her childhood in Kentucky. Despite her travels, she has strong ties to West Michigan, where both her parents and extended family are from.

At home, Michaela has a companion who keeps her on her toes—her little black cat named Cricket. When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll often find her outdoors. She enjoys camping, hiking, and backpacking, and when it’s time to slow down, she loves crocheting. This summer, she even challenged herself by learning how to make crocheted animals.

Before joining Big Rapids Public Schools, Michaela worked as a substitute teacher in Byron Center, south of Grand Rapids. Her decision to pursue teaching was inspired by a desire to connect content to real life. “I wanted to teach students how the content and skills they are learning applies to their life today,” she shared.

We are thrilled to have Michaela bring her experience, creativity, and enthusiasm to BRHS, and we know she will make a meaningful impact on our students. Welcome to Cardinal Country, Michaela!
