Eastwood Elementary is delighted to welcome Carly Hubbard to our teaching team as our new Kindergarten teacher! Originally from the charming lakeshore town of Whitehall, Michigan, Carly graduated from Whitehall High School in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 lockdown. She moved to Big Rapids to attend Ferris State University and recently earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 2024.
Carly lives in Big Rapids with her boyfriend and their two cats, Nellie and Ozzy. As an only child from a small family, Carly values close connections and brings that same warmth into her classroom.
Outside of school, Carly enjoys relaxing with a good movie, crafting, and making the most of Michigan summers by heading to the beach or going boating. Her journey with BRPS began during her time as a student teacher at Brookside Elementary, followed by a role as a literacy paraprofessional at Big Rapids Middle School. Now, she’s excited to step into her dream role in the kindergarten classroom.
“I’ve always known I wanted to be a teacher,” Carly shared. “I had such positive experiences in school growing up, and I want to give my students the same. The support and community I’ve felt at BRPS is unmatched—I truly feel at home here.”
One fun fact students and parents might not expect? Carly is a huge fan of musical theater—she’s even been to two Broadway shows—and she loves to sing!
We’re thrilled to have Carly officially join the BRPS family. Welcome to Eastwood, Carly!
