Lauren Kubacki joins Riverview Elementary this fall as a second-grade teacher, bringing enthusiasm, a familiar face, and a passion for helping young learners grow. Although this marks her first year as a classroom teacher, she's already a familiar member of the Riverview family.
A native of Canton, Michigan, Lauren graduated from Canton High School, part of one of the largest three-school high school campuses in the United States. She recently earned her degree in Elementary Education from Ferris State University, along with a minor in Psychology, after spending the past five years preparing for a career in education.
Lauren's connection to Riverview began before accepting her teaching position. She completed her student teaching at the school and continued supporting students as both a substitute teacher and paraprofessional. Those experiences confirmed that Big Rapids was exactly where she wanted to begin her career.
"I loved the welcoming community, supportive staff, and wonderful students," Lauren said. "I knew it was the perfect place to begin my teaching career. I'm excited to continue building relationships with students and families this year!"
When she's not in the classroom, Lauren enjoys spending time outdoors, whether that's going for walks or playing sports with family and friends. She also has a passion for traveling and loves exploring new places and cultures—especially destinations with beautiful beaches and ocean views. At home, baking is another favorite hobby. Each Christmas, Lauren and her family bake thousands of cookies together, creating a cherished holiday tradition.
Lauren comes from a close-knit family and is the youngest of four. Her parents still live in Canton, while her older brother, Zach, lives in Minneapolis, where he works as an airplane mechanic for Delta.
Students may be surprised to learn that Lauren was also a standout collegiate athlete. She played goalkeeper for the Ferris State women's soccer team, and one of her favorite memories was traveling to Seattle to compete in the NCAA Division II Final Four.
As Lauren begins her first year leading her own classroom, she's excited to help second graders learn, grow, and discover a love of learning in a school community that already feels like home.
Please join us in giving Lauren Kubacki a warm welcome to the Riverview Elementary and Big Rapids Public Schools family!
