Both students have been named 2025 MSBOA Outstanding Jazz Musicians at the State Jazz Festival! 🎉 Each judge was allowed to select up to three musicians from the entire site—making this honor incredibly selective and competitive. With so many talented jazz musicians across Michigan, this recognition truly speaks to their exceptional skill and dedication.
Even more impressive? Gavin and Amund were also selected last year! 👏👏
We’re proud to have two of Michigan’s finest jazz musicians representing Big Rapids! 🎺🥁🎼

This year’s “Arabian Nights” Prom 2025 will take place on Saturday, May 3rd, from 8-11pm at the Castle in Canadian Lakes. Tickets are $20 each, and will be sold during ALL lunches from April 22nd thru May 1st. *There will be no ticket sales at the door.
Dance Guest Forms for anyone who is not a BRHS Juniors & Seniors [including ANY underclassmen] are available in the office, & must be submitted for approval no later than Wednesday, April 30th.
Juniors & Seniors: please check your email for a song request form from Miss Britt.
🚌 Today is Bus Driver Appreciation Day, and we’re giving a big shoutout to the amazing BRPS bus drivers who safely transport our students every day!

On Thursday, BRHS students had the opportunity to tour the Wayland Carpenter and Millwright Training Center to learn more about apprenticeship careers, training, and employment opportunities. Students explored the state-of-the-art training center and learned what it takes to become a carpenter, floor layer, millwright, pile driver, and solar installer.

At last night’s Board of Education meeting, our incredible liaison officers were recognized for their outstanding service and unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our schools. These dedicated individuals play a vital role in building strong relationships between law enforcement and the school community, and we are grateful for everything they do to support our students, staff, and families.
In addition to being honored during the meeting, the liaison officers also led CRASE training during the board workshop. This training is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance preparedness and reinforce safety protocols across the district.
We are proud to work alongside such committed professionals who help make BRPS a safer and more supportive place to learn and grow. Thank you, Officers Torres and Losinski!

Big Rapids National Honor Society will be hosting a Community Blood Drive on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 8:00 - 2:00 PM!
The Student Council will be hosting our second annual Cardinal Splash Back! Cardinal Splash Back - A "Pass from Class" Afternoon is set to take place on Friday, May 9th from 1-3pm. This will take place out in/near Cardinal Stadium !
What is it?
The afternoon will include [free!] food & drinks, an inflatable obstacle course, sprinklers, a giant slip 'n slide, kiddie pools & bubbles, sidewalk chalk, yard games, music, and more! You'll be welcome to play games, go into the obstacle courses, eat some food, and/or simply use the time to hang out with your friends outside. *PM CC Students: those who signed up/paid for a t-shirt would be excused for that afternoon.
How do I participate?
In order to attend, you must purchase a Cardinal Splash Back t-shirt as your "ticket" to get in. (*all proceeds go towards cost of event) You also must be passing all your classes, as well as have had no third trimester suspensions in order to attend, t-shirt or not.
*We also have a number of t-shirts that have been sponsored by some of our staff members, so please see Miss Britt or the counseling office separately if payment is an issue.
T-Shirts will be sold:
$10 each, cash OR Venmo @kristybritton *please note "Cardinal Splash Back" . student name, & t-shirt size in info.
- April 14th-28th at ALL LUNCHES in the concession stand. *to avoid conflict w/Prom ticket sales. :)

3rd Trimester LiveSchool House Competition Winners + Top 20 Individual Winners will get in free (& get free t-shirts).
*if you purchase a t-shirt ahead of time to ensure you can attend, we will refund your $.
Attire:
You are also more than welcome (and encouraged) to wear other clothes (besides the t-shirt) while partaking in the activities (in case you do not want to get it dirty, for example). Appropriate attire WILL BE required. If you plan to wear a swimsuit, you must also bring clothing to wear over top of it. Please remember this is still a school event during school hours, and therefore dress code will still apply.
