Happy Thanksgiving Day from Big Rapids Public Schools!
This Thanksgiving, we’re thankful for our incredible Cardinal community — our students, families, staff, and supporters who make our district such a special place to learn and grow.

Riverview Elementary continued its heartfelt tradition of hanging Thanksgiving door tags on the homes in our neighborhood. Students loved spreading kindness as they delivered cheerful messages wishing our neighbors a warm and happy Thanksgiving. This simple act of gratitude reminded everyone how special our community truly is. Riverview is proud to share thankfulness beyond our school walls and brighten the holiday season for those around us.

Ms. Stickler's classroom celebrated Thanksgiving, Charlie Brown–style, bringing the classic story to life with simple, heartfelt traditions. Students enjoyed popcorn, toast, and jelly beans while laughing about the iconic Peanuts feast. Decorations inspired by Charlie Brown and his friends added a fun, nostalgic touch. It was a sweet reminder that Thanksgiving is less about the meal and more about sharing time, gratitude, and friendship.

First graders had a blast decorating their turkeys with creative items they found at home, all in an effort to cleverly disguise them. Each turkey took on a whole new identity—from superheroes to rock stars—making sure no one would ever want to eat them! The laughter and imagination filling the classroom made the activity a fun and memorable Thanksgiving tradition.

The halls of Riverview have been filled with festive decorations for everyone to enjoy. As we head into the holiday break, we wish all of our Riverview families a warm and blessed Thanksgiving celebration. May your homes be filled with joy, togetherness, and plenty of reasons to be thankful.

This month, our Board of Education recognized our Parent Teacher Organizations (PTO) and Booster Clubs that support our schools. In attendance were representatives from the Brookside PTO, Eastwood PTO, Riverview PTO, Middle School PTO, Sports Boosters, and Band Boosters. These individuals dedicate countless hours to supporting our students. In particular, their fundraising efforts have created SO MANY meaningful opportunities for Big Rapids students, and their commitment makes a lasting difference in our schools and community!
