Congratulations to the following track and field athletes for qualifying for the state meet on May 31st: Nalaya Fricke (200M & 400M), Sophia Blackwell (Long Jump), Hayden Gould (1600 M), Michael Horning (Discus), Wyatt Skiera, Liam McLaughlin, Garret Foster, and Lamont Belvin (4x100 & 4x200 Relays)!
Congrats to our Boys Track Team- They were the CSAA Co-Champions!
In addition, congratulations to Nalaya Fricke for setting a new school record in the 400! The previous record was set by Mrs. Montgomery at 58.00. Nalaya ran a 56.95!

During Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5-9), we extend our gratitude to all our dedicated staff members at BRPS.
This year, we're opening up shout-out submissions to celebrate and recognize not just our teachers, but all staff members across departments such as food service, front office, maintenance, transportation, administration, and paraprofessionals.
A 'shout-out' can be submitted by adults or students, with no limit on submissions. These messages will be shared throughout the week of May 5th, and while the submission form closes on May 9th, personal notes of encouragement are always welcomed and valued.

Both students have been named 2025 MSBOA Outstanding Jazz Musicians at the State Jazz Festival! 🎉 Each judge was allowed to select up to three musicians from the entire site—making this honor incredibly selective and competitive. With so many talented jazz musicians across Michigan, this recognition truly speaks to their exceptional skill and dedication.
Even more impressive? Gavin and Amund were also selected last year! 👏👏
We’re proud to have two of Michigan’s finest jazz musicians representing Big Rapids! 🎺🥁🎼

This year’s “Arabian Nights” Prom 2025 will take place on Saturday, May 3rd, from 8-11pm at the Castle in Canadian Lakes. Tickets are $20 each, and will be sold during ALL lunches from April 22nd thru May 1st. *There will be no ticket sales at the door.
Dance Guest Forms for anyone who is not a BRHS Juniors & Seniors [including ANY underclassmen] are available in the office, & must be submitted for approval no later than Wednesday, April 30th.

On Thursday, BRHS students had the opportunity to tour the Wayland Carpenter and Millwright Training Center to learn more about apprenticeship careers, training, and employment opportunities. Students explored the state-of-the-art training center and learned what it takes to become a carpenter, floor layer, millwright, pile driver, and solar installer.
