Big Rapids High School is excited to welcome a familiar face into a new role—our new Athletic Director, Stephanie Shaw, brings a deep love for sports, a passion for student growth, and a strong connection to the Big Rapids community.
Originally from Lakeview, she’s no stranger to small-town pride or the power of athletics to bring people together. Before stepping into her new role, she served as the Coordinator of Athletic Operations at Ferris State University, where she gained valuable experience managing athletic programs at the collegiate level.
Her career in education began in 2018 when she made a significant shift from her previous path. “Big Rapids took a chance on me,” she says. “I love the community and the coaches and staff. I'm excited for the opportunity to be back at the high school and working with student-athletes again.”
When she’s not on the sidelines or supporting Cardinal athletics, you can find her soaking up the outdoors. She enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, kayaking, exercising, traveling, and baking. She also loves spending time with her family—and her five-year-old Maltipoo, Lulu, is never far behind.
One fun fact that may surprise students and parents alike? She walked onto the rowing team at Michigan State University and went on to become a Big Ten Champion!
