Welcome, Ms. Marcy Hammond

Big Rapids Middle School is excited to welcome Marcy Hammond as our new STEAM teacher!

Marcy grew up in Holland, MI, and graduated from Zeeland High School. She went on to earn her undergraduate degree from Oakland University and her master’s degree from Central Michigan University. She has one sister, two brothers, and recently celebrated her parents’ move to the area—a change she loves.

Family is at the center of Marcy’s life. She has two amazing kids—Max, who attends CMU and plays baseball, and Morgan, a senior at Reed City who is a three-sport athlete. Whether she’s in the stands at their games or spending time with her parents and siblings, Marcy loves making memories with the people who matter most.

When she’s not in the classroom, you might find Marcy with friends and family, or pursuing her other passion of Therapeutic Horse Riding. She spends Wednesday nights teaching and assisting classes at the Equest Center for Therapeutic Riding.

Marcy brings 24 years of teaching experience from Reed City Area Public Schools, where she taught 4th grade, Technology, 2nd grade, SEL, and STEM, and also coached JV softball, middle school cross country, and assisted with varsity softball.

She’s looking forward to a new adventure at the middle school level:

“I’m so excited to join the Big Rapids team. I can’t wait to teach STEAM with a fun, hands-on learning experience.”

Welcome to BRMS, Marcy—we’re thrilled to have you on our team!
