When we think about what makes a school district succeed, we often think of the lessons taught in the classrooms. But just as vital are the dedicated individuals who work behind the scenes every day to ensure our schools are safe, clean, and ready for learning.
Today, Big Rapids Public Schools is celebrating the retirement of Michael Stratz from our Maintenance Department.
Michael has been an essential part of the BRPS family, bringing an incredible work ethic to our buildings every single day. Upon his retirement, Michael shared a heartfelt message with the district that perfectly captures his dedication to our schools.
In His Own Words:
"My time here at BRPS has been incredibly rewarding. Being able to maintain a space where staff and students can safely work and learn has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my career.
I came to work every day holding onto a reminder from one of our opening staff speeches: 'I get to go to work today!' Now, as I look back on my career, I am left with the wonderful memory and thought: 'I got to work at BRPS!'"
A Lasting Impact
Michael’s perspective reminds us all of the power of a positive mindset. By turning the daily routine into a gratitude-filled "I get to," he didn't just maintain our facilities—he elevated our entire school environment. Because of his hard work, generations of Cardinals had a safe, welcoming space to grow, achieve, and thrive.
We are deeply grateful for Michael’s years of service, his pride in his work, and the wonderful spirit he brought to our team.
Thank you, Michael, for everything you have done for BRPS. We wish you the absolute best in your well-deserved retirement! You will be greatly missed! 🎉👏
