We’re thrilled to welcome Kristi Bybee to Eastwood Elementary as our new Kindergarten Enrichment teacher! Kristi brings a deep passion for helping others and a unique path to education that makes her a perfect fit for our Eastwood family.
Kristi grew up in Morley and attended Morley Stanwood Schools from kindergarten through graduation. After high school, she headed to Ferris State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. For over 12 years, Kristi served as an Activities Director at a nursing home, but during the COVID pandemic, she made a major life change by choosing to focus more on family. That shift led her to Big Rapids Public Schools, where she began working as a paraprofessional. Inspired by her experience, Kristi enrolled in a Master’s program for Elementary Education and is now stepping into the classroom as a teacher.
Kristi is married to her best friend, and together they have three children. They’re a proud hockey family, often on the go more than at home! Their household also includes three cats: Minnie, Maggie, and Teddy—and one dog, Mia.
Outside of school, Kristi enjoys traveling, reading, playing games, baking, and spending time with family and friends. She’s also an active member of the community through her involvement on the BRAJHA (Big Rapids Area Junior Hockey Association) board.
When asked what inspired her journey into teaching, Kristi shared, “Working with others and helping them has always been part of my journey. Once I became a paraprofessional at Big Rapids, I knew I wanted to take that next step. Making a positive impact and being a role model for young students is so important. Their success matters—and being able to witness that success firsthand is amazing.”
We’re so excited to have Kristi in this new role and know she’ll make a meaningful impact as she supports and enriches the learning experiences of our kindergarten students. Welcome to Eastwood, Kristi!
