Mr. Dillon Gatehouse

Big Rapids Public Schools is excited to introduce Dillon Gatehouse, known to students as Mr. G, who is joining our team with a passion for inspiring students and building meaningful connections.

Mr. G grew up in Vestaburg, Michigan, where he attended school and lived on a small farm just south of town. During his school years, he was actively involved in a variety of sports including track and field, basketball, football, and baseball at different points in his career. Some of his favorite classes as a student were physical education, math, and history, which helped shape his appreciation for both movement and learning.

Family plays a central role in Mr. G’s life. He has been married to his wife, Rachel, for 10 years, and together they have three boys—Andon, Oliver, and Elliot—with a baby girl on the way. Life at home is busy and full of energy, and Mr. G wouldn’t have it any other way.

Outside of school, Mr. G enjoys spending quality time with his family. Whether it’s playing games together, wrestling with his boys, participating in athletics, playing video games, or occasionally settling in with a good book, he values time spent connecting with those he loves most.

Before joining Big Rapids Public Schools, Mr. G worked at Baldwin Community Schools and was also involved with Trinity Fellowship Church, experiences that helped strengthen his commitment to serving others and supporting young people.

When asked what inspired him to work in education, Mr. G shared that he hopes to inspire the next generation in the same way others once inspired and encouraged him—a motivation that drives his approach with students every day.

One thing students and families might be surprised to learn about Mr. G is that despite doing it for years, he still gets nervous speaking in front of large groups of people—a reminder that growth often comes from stepping outside our comfort zones.

We are thrilled to welcome Mr. G to Big Rapids Public Schools and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our students and school community.
