A love of learning, creativity, and the outdoors brings experienced educator Emily Ensing to Riverview Elementary.
Riverview Elementary is welcoming Emily Ensing as its new Special Education teacher. With nine years of experience in education, Emily brings a wealth of classroom experience and a passion for helping every student discover their potential.
Emily grew up in Jenison, Michigan, before heading north to attend Northern Michigan University. While earning her degree, she fell in love with Michigan’s Upper Peninsula—and proudly remains a Wildcat!
Before joining Big Rapids Public Schools, Emily taught in several other school districts. This year marks her ninth year as a teacher. During the summer months, she also works at a camp, giving her even more opportunities to work with and connect with young people.
Emily knew she wanted to become a teacher as early as middle school.
“I love working with students and finding ways to inspire the love of learning something new,” she shared. “I try to find ways to make learning exciting. Every student deserves the chance to learn and grow.”
Outside of school, Emily loves being outdoors and exploring new places. She enjoys biking, swimming, and hiking—and whenever possible, she brings along her adventure-loving Australian Cattle Dog!
Emily also has a creative side. She enjoys music and theatre and has been involved with several productions through Stage M Theatre. And when she's looking for a quieter activity, you'll likely find her with a good book.
With her experience, enthusiasm, and belief that every student deserves the opportunity to learn and grow, Emily is excited to begin her next chapter at Riverview.
