Congratulations to Barb Peacock, BRHS Literacy Coach, on receiving a $5,000 Youth Literacy Grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation!
Thanks to this funding, BRHS will launch a new schoolwide March is Reading Month initiative designed to spark student interest, encourage participation, and build a positive culture around reading at the high school level.
One of the highlights will be an Author's Market, featuring local authors and opportunities for students to explore books and connect with the people who write them! Barb also plans to incorporate schoolwide reading challenges, student incentives and prizes, high-interest reading materials, and activities that make reading engaging and fun.
While our younger Cardinals have traditionally enjoyed schoolwide Reading Month activities, this initiative will bring that same excitement to our high school students, creating new opportunities to discover the joy of reading.
Congratulations, Barb, and thank you for finding creative ways to inspire our Cardinals and strengthen literacy at BRHS!
